Momentum prompts Cureatr to expand leadership team

Kent Hiller, Karl Kiss and Jay Smith to lead expansion of products, markets and partnerships

New York, NY – February 24, 2015 – Following a banner year for the organization, Cureatr, Inc. announced today the addition of three seasoned healthcare technologists to its leadership team. Kent Hiller, Karl Kiss, and Jay Smith joined the company as vice president of product strategy and partnerships, vice president of sales and marketing, and vice president of product, respectively. This expansion is reflective of the company’s significant growth in 2014, as measured by end-users, which more than doubled, as well as revenue, which increased by 300 percent.

This growth trend is expected to continue its same course in 2015, during which time Cureatr will focus on technology and partnership expansions, particularly among risk-bearing organizations and those with attributable patient populations. Cureatr is an active supporter of healthcare organizations participating in the New York Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP) program. The goal of the DSRIP program is a 25 percent reduction in avoidable hospital use over five years. The addition of these executives bolsters Cureatr’s depth of experience in scaling for large enterprises and enables Cureatr to respond to increasing demand for mobile care coordination and clinical workflow solutions.

“We are fortunate Cureatr’s continued growth and user expansion allowed us to attract such notable talent at a pivotal moment for our organization,” said Joseph Mayer, MD, Cureatr’s co-founder and chief executive officer. “Kent, Karl, and Jay will have a tremendous impact on Cureatr’s ability to service our clients, generate new partnerships and sustain our growth trajectory.”

Cureatr’s enterprise-grade HIPAA-secure mobile messaging and care coordination platform was developed by clinicians to help doctors and nurses spend more time caring for patients, and less time on administrative tasks. Healthcare organizations are using Cureatr’s secure messaging, mobile workflow tools and real-time admission/discharge/transfer (ADT) alerts delivered through Cureatr’s care transition notification network to provide seamless, uninterrupted patient care.

As vice president of product strategy and partnerships, Kent Hiller is identifying opportunities to connect disparate data sources and clinical end-users. Prior to joining Cureatr, Hiller served as vice president of data solutions at Thrive Health Data Solutions, a commercial venture of the Indiana Health Information Exchange, where he led product strategy for the company’s clinical data repository and ADT alerts platform. He holds a B.S. in engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Seattle University. Read more about Kent.  Connect with Kent.

Karl Kiss joins Cureatr as vice president of sales and marketing after serving as vice president of sales and marketing for RazorInsights, recently acquired by athenahealth. Prior to that, Kiss served as regional vice president of sales for Siemens Medical Solutions. He holds a B.S. in marketing from Florida State University and an MBA in finance from Georgia State University. Read more about Karl. Connect with Karl.

As vice president of product, Jay Smith leads Cureatr’s efforts related to clinical collaboration and mobile workflow. An expert in the creation and management of technology solutions for the healthcare and life sciences industries, Smith most recently served as director of product management for both Sparta Systems and Medidata Solutions. He holds a B.A. in Computer Science from Gettysburg College and an MBA from Villanova University.  Read more about Jay. Connect with Jay.

In addition to customer acquisition, Cureatr made significant technology investments and improvements in 2014, including:

  • the launch of care transition notifications, which is currently in use by a New York area hospital;
  • the introduction of Clinical Workflow tools, which are capable of delivering ADT Alerts; and,
  • the deployment of a Windows Mobile version, in addition to Web, iOS and Android.
